Virtual Regional Open Series

British Weight Lifting has taken the decision to transfer all the remaining Regional Open Series events in the 2020 calendar year to online competitions. This means that the Regional Open Series will take place without the risk of cancellation due to Covid-19 or other causes.

Each of the three Series will resume from the point they left when events were cancelled earlier this year. Full details of each Series can be found on the BWL website using the link below.

The full results will be published on the BWL website and uploaded to the rankings list. The results can be used for qualification to future national events. The top three ranked lifters (determined by Sinclar/SMF point) in the Senior, Masters and Youth age groups will receive medals in the post.

BWL members are encouraged to trial using the virtual entry system by taking part in one of the free Lockdown Lift Off competitions to avoid any technical issues when entering a virtual Regional Open Series.

Stage 1

Each video submission will be moderated by a member of the BWL competitions team to ensure it meets the basic requirements.  Any videos that do not meet the requirements will be rejected and the lifter will not be charged for their entry.

Stage 2

Videos will be viewed by three Licensed Technical Officials to determine a good lift or no lift for each attempt.  The results for each lift will be delivered as a comment under the video in the gallery.  Lifts will be judged according to the BWL TCRR.

The full results will be published on the BWL website and uploaded to the rankings list.  The results can be used for qualification to future national events.  The top three ranked lifters (determined by Sinclar/SMF point) in the Senior, Masters and Youth age groups will receive medals in the post.
